Robbinsdale Area Schools

December Newsletter

The holiday season is definitely upon us.  I know these are unprecedented times and things aren’t quite the same because of COVID 19.  During this special time of the year, please take care of yourself, your family and let your loved ones know that you care about them.

Quarter 2 Mid-Quarter is Friday, December 11

The mid-quarter grading mark is a check-in time for students and families to see educational progress.  We use the grade information to plan support.  It is also a good point to encourage students to catch up on any missing assignments or assessments.  Some suggestions that were given to students include:

  1. Complete all work

  2. Visit teachers Office Google Meets on Wednesdays or Go to Teacher Breakouts

  3. Check Schoology and email daily

Genius Hour Opportunities

WEB Winter Raffle

WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Leaders are 8th graders who work to promote community at school. They will be hosting a WEB Winter Raffle this year instead of our typical ROAR Store Holiday Shoppe! They are very excited about this opportunity to engage students and spread some positivity! WEB Leaders made a video to help promote our PMS students to turn their cameras on during classes! Their goal is that by seeing their peers promote cameras on, students will feel empowered to do the same!  Check out the video here!

8th Annual Bird Bash Virtual Event

Seven Dreams Education Foundation invites you to the 8th Annual Bird Bash Virtual Event on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 6:30 – 7:45 pm. The fun, interactive program begins at 7 pm. Online silent and premier auctions will open a week in advance, on January 30th. Seven Dreams is excited to announce that the program will be emceed by RAS alum Sally Wingert, who is a Hollywood and Guthrie Theater actor (she acted in Fargo and North Country). The Bird Bash is the foundation's primary fundraiser of the year and raises money to benefit the students of Robbinsdale Area Schools.

The goal is to raise $50,000 to fund this year's project: Telling Everyone’s Story With Multicultural Books.

This project will inspire our students to read by adding 2,500 electronic & print books to our middle and high school media centers that are culturally relevant and inclusive of everyone's story. Electronic books make it possible to check out books remotely, any time of day. This project will nurture our students’ self-esteem, empathy and understanding of multiple perspectives—and provide them with opportunities to explore current social issues and strengthen ties to each other and the community.

The live streamed event is free but please register at: The link will also be on the website at Or you can "text to register": send a message to Seven Dreams at 243725 and text “BirdBash2021”. If you would like to donate to the silent auction, see the "wish list" at: For more information contact Emily Wallace-Jackson, Executive Director, SDEF at
