Rdale monitoring winter storm; please prepare for e-learning

Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools (Rdale) families,

We’re closely monitoring the winter storm that is set to bring significant snow to the area tomorrow evening through Thursday. The National Weather Service and local agencies are expecting 18 to 24 inches of snow, along with high winds, to impact our area.

It is important for all of us to prepare. School is scheduled as normal for tomorrow, Tuesday Feb. 21. We want to make sure all students bring their devices home from school tomorrow in the likely event we shift to e-learning on Wednesday, Feb. 22, and/or Thursday, Feb. 23.

If Rdale shifts to e-learning on Wednesday and Thursday, Adventure Club, The Basement, and Early Learning programming, including preschool, will be canceled.

After-school activities and sporting events will be handled on a case-by case basis and may also be canceled.

Adult Academic Programming will shift to e-learning. In-person Community Education programming and facility rentals may also be canceled.

We will continue to monitor the winter storm in partnership with our bus provider, Durham Transportation, as well as our seven cities and the National Weather Service. We will communicate about final decisions regarding our plans for school no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Thank you for understanding, and for supporting the students and staff of Robbinsdale Area Schools.

Sincerely,

David Engstrom
Superintendent
