Meet the Counselors

Meet the Counselors

Shelly Hughes
6th Grade Counselor

I have been at PMS for 13 years. Starting this year, I am also a middle school parent, with my oldest child making that transition. As a school counselor, my role is to assist all students in meeting rigorous academic goals. I strive to provide students with the tools necessary to be their own advocates in solving the academic, personal, and social concerns that arise during the middle school years.

Trent Thompson
7th Grade Counselor
This is my first year at Plymouth Middle School. I am a recent graduate from the UW- Stout and am coming from the Minneapolis school district. My role as your school counselor will be to help students academically, socially/emotionally, and with career/college readiness. I will be your school counselor from 6 th - 8 th grade. Other roles I will have as the school counselor is to advocate for the student’s best interest and help them become sufficient lifelong learners. I am very excited to be at Plymouth this year and looking forward to meeting all of you!

Deb Dragseth

Hello.  This year I am the 8th grade counselor.  I am looking forward to having a great school year with your students!  Welcome back 7th graders!
Here are a couple things about my role here at Plymouth...

1) I will be your child's guidance counselor for the entire time they are attending Plymouth Middle School.

2) I am here to support students, teachers and families so we can help your child be successful at school.

3) I work as part of a team and we are called the support staff.  This team includes: counselors, social workers, a school psychologist and a homeschool liaison/student advocate.  We are all here to help your child be successful.

I look forward to a great school year!
